About this domain
start-up.it is a domain name for anyone building a business around young companies in Italy. If you run an accelerator, advise founders, or want to reach Italian investors, the name says what you do before anyone opens the site.
Ideas for the name
- Soft landing for foreign founders: a consultancy or law firm can guide non-Italian teams through setting up a company in Italy. A .it address shows clients you work in that market.
- Accelerator entering Italy: a foreign program that opens a local cohort gets a name any Italian founder will recognize and type from memory.
- Directory in English: list Italian startups for international investors and journalists. People searching for startups in Italy find exactly the words they typed.
- Italian founders going abroad: a startup studio can use it as the home base for its Italian projects while it pitches to funds overseas.
Why the name works
It is short, easy to remember, and made of two words everyone in the startup world knows. One thing to know: it has a hyphen. When you say it out loud, you add "hyphen" between the words. On a business card or in a logo, it stays clear.
Who can register a .it? Individuals and companies based in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, San Marino or Vatican City. A company elsewhere can do it through a subsidiary or local entity in one of those places.
We own every domain we sell. Nexia S.r.l. is an Italian company with over ten years in the domain business. You pay 22% Italian VAT, unless your business is outside Italy and has a VAT or tax ID. The first year of renewal is included, and transfer to another registrar is free. Choose a single payment or interest-free monthly installments at the same total price.
